【摘要】:Thisguideprovidesproceduresfortheapplicationofcontactstraight-beamexaminationforthedetectionandquantitativeevaluationofdiscontinuitiesinmaterials.Althoughnotallrequirementsofthisguidecanbeapplieduniversallytoallinspections,situations,andmaterials,itdoesprovidebasisforestablishingcontractualcriteriabetweentheusers,andmaybeusedasageneralguideforpreparingdetailedspecificationsforaparticularapplication.Thisguideisdirectedtowardstheevaluationofdiscontinuitiesdetectablewiththebeamnormaltotheentrysurface.Ifdiscontinuitiesorotherorientationsareofconcern,alternatescanningtechniquesarerequired.1.1Thisguidecoversproceduresforthecontactultrasonicexaminationofbulkmaterialsorpartsbytransmittingpulsedultrasonicwavesintothematerialandobservingtheindicationsofreflectedwaves.Thisguidecoversonlyexaminationsinwhichonesearchunitisusedasbothtransmitterandreceiver(pulse-echo).Thisguideincludesgeneralrequirementsandproceduresthatmaybeusedfordetectingdiscontinuities,locatingdepthanddistancefromapointofreferenceandformakingarelativeorapproximateevaluationofthesizeofdiscontinuitiesascomparedtoareferencestandard.1.2ThisguidecomplementsPracticeE114byprovidingmoredetailedproceduresfortheselectionandcalibrationoftheinspectionsystemandforevaluationoftheindicationsobtained.1.3Thevaluesstatedininch-poundunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.ThevaluesgiveninparenthesesaremathematicalconversionstoSIunitsthatareprovidedforinformationonlyandarenotconsideredstandard.1.4Thisguidedoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisguidetoestablishtheappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
